When I first heard we were building a garden for The Academy at Old Cockrill, I thought we were just going to go play in the dirt. However, building it was life-changing and that feeling caught me off guard. Yes, we dug in the dirt, we played, we ate good food, laughed, cut wood, planted seeds and learned many things that were very interesting. But these things alone weren’t life-changing for me. You see, as we all participated, it seemed as if we were becoming a family. Everyone got along with each other and worked very hard together, and as a result, not only did we see the garden come to life and grow, but we watched ourselves grow, too.
